Dr. Joel Hanson’s passion and dedication to the medical field have led to an impressive career that intersects both psychiatry and internal medicine. A dual-residency graduate from the University of Utah, he is Board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Hanson began his medical journey at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and further honed his skills with an internship in Internal Medicine at MIBRMC/Columbia University.

Dr. Hanson’s commitment to addiction medicine is extensive. He founded and operated the St. George Detox Hospital, serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Altium Health, and has directed medical aspects at various establishments, including Ascendant Behavioral Health and multiple treatment centers. As an advocate for telemedicine, he has been instrumental in advancing rural telehealth services and has notably contributed to weekend coverage units at Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital.
